Welcome to Modest Mondays, Dear One! i'm pleased to announce that my first gem of a friend to participate in this series is Emma Frei! We've known each other for quite a few years, but have grown much closer this past year as we've shared our struggles and laughs. Honestly, we got transparent with each other...and the Lord really blessed our friendship! p.s. Check out my blog post on "5 Ways to Strengthen Friendships" here <3 :Please tell me a little about yourself, why modesty is important to you, and any other encouragement you would like to share! "Hello there! My name is Emma Frei and I live in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Colorado. I am the oldest sister of nine siblings, an avid writer, aspiring artist, lover of all things coffee, violinist and music teacher, and in love with cozy days in front of a fire with my favorite coffee mug in my hands and my pen and paper as rain drizzles from the sky and all the leaves fade from green to the vibrant colors of Autumn. It has been nearly ten years since the modesty journey first began for me. As a little girl, being the only one to wear skirts and dresses to gatherings was challenging. Some of my friends would tell me that it was dumb, that I wasn't able to run or climb or play any of the games that we always played together. They told me that my parents were wrong to ask me to wear skirts. Fearing rejection and wanting desperately to never be left out, I agreed with them. Unfortunately, while my aversion to skirts and dressing modestly has lessened and finally disappeared as I have gotten older throughout the years, people's odd looks and comments and even friends rolling their eyes at my decision have not. One of the biggest things that I have gotten out of this journey is that maintaining convictions is hard! It is especially difficult when you are surrounded by a community who either doesn't support your decision, or has fallen by the wayside in their own convictions and allowed the world and other people to influence their decisions. I am not only talking about modesty here... I am talking about every aspect of our walk with the Father. As sons and daughters of Him we cannot be influenced by the world! We must hold fast to the things that the Lord has whispered into our hearts. If we are His children then we must follow His leading, regardless of what the world has to say about it, no matter how hard it is. And sometimes, the hardest thing that you can do is follow God when the rest of the world is screaming at you to forsake Him. But herein lies the most important thing; We must never forget to whom we belong. We must never forget what our Messiah did for us. We must never forget the very first lover of our souls, and who He made us to be. And that, my friends, is lovely. Beautiful. Worth dying for.
This girl can WRITE! Thank you so much, Emma, for a lovely first Modest Monday.
